The testers evaluated sleep tracking, health tracking, understandable data, and style and comfort. They compared a sleep log kept by the testers to the devices’ findings, and the trackers were worn for three nights. The device’s heart-rate data was also compared with a heart-rate sensor. The testing also ascertained the devices’ interfaces and usability, and preferred trackers that looked discreet and were comfortable and lightweight.

The third-generation Oura Ring was selected as Wirecutter’s pick for sleep tracking, with emphasis on its comprehensive and approachable data, with reports that were deemed as easy to navigate and understand. The Oura Ring was the most accurate at measuring heart rate and its variability. Moreover, it was also evaluated as being a stylish and comfortable device with personalized recommendations and easy navigation.
