The BotHâ‚‚nia team will be present at the European Hydrogen Week with the aim of obtaining official hydrogen valley status for the hydrogen regions of the west coast of Finland and funding from the EU Clean Hydrogen Partnership.
BotH₂nia will participate in the European Hydrogen Week in Brussels from 18 to 22 November 2024.
At European Hydrogen Week, Finns are also part of the programme. Helena Soimakallio, Director of Sustainable Growth in the Technology Industry, will speak in the session “B2B Session 3: National legal frameworks for hydrogen in Europe”.
In parallel with European Hydrogen Week, the informal Baltic Sea Group at the European Parliament will organise an event entitled “Hydrogen in the Baltic Sea Area – The Baltic Sea Region at the forefront of innovation”. The EU-funded Clean Hydrogen Partnership has so far supported 16 hydrogen valley projects in 15 European countries, of which 15 projects are still ongoing. The Clean Hydrogen Partnership has provided nearly €200 million in funding for hydrogen valleys, representing an investment of over €1 billion.
The European Commission, through RePowerEU, has allocated an additional €200 million to the Clean Hydrogen Partnership to double the number of hydrogen valleys in Europe by 2025. On the basis of the 2022 and 2023 proposals, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership signed grant agreements with 13 new hydrogen valley projects across Europe.
The EU is funding hydrogen valleys in this way, as the RePowerEU plan sees them as essential to expand Europe’s hydrogen economy. This is because hydrogen valleys link the production, storage and distribution of clean hydrogen to end-users, while creating regional value chains.
