🇫🇮 German-Finnish call for proposals for joint R&D projects by SMEs

Business Finland and the German ZIM programme are looking for innovative market-oriented joint projects between small and medium-sized enterprises in Finland and Germany. The call is currently ongoing and is open until September 15, 2025.Business Finland and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) intend to support joint Finnish-German research and development projects (R&D projects) in order to develop innovative products, processes, or technical services from all technology and application areas.Funding will be available for R&D projects in which new products, services, or processes with a high market potential are developed and subsequently transformed into marketable products. Project ideas should stem from the companies’ own needs and can belong to any domain.

Between the opening of the call on 3rd March 2025 and the call deadline on 15th September 2025, all participants file one short common proposal in English, legally signed by all organizations participating in the project. In addition to the common proposal, project partners who want to apply for funding within this call must submit a national application according to the respective rules. Research and Development projects of companies based in Finland are eligible for Business Finland funding.

Matchmaking opportunities for finding suitable partners

Through a matchmaking platform, Finnish and German SMEs can connect, share project ideas, and find suitable partners.

The matchmaking is open from 10th March to 9th August 2025. After registration, it is possible to request and set up online meetings with potential partners at any time during the period.
