🇬🇱 The Air Greenland Group delivers a satisfactory result in a year marked by major changes

20

Despite significant upheavals and operational challenges in 2024, the Air Greenland Group can present a satisfactory result for 2024. A year that has marked the beginning of a new era for aviation in Greenland, culminating with the opening of Nuuk’s international airport and the introduction of a new traffic hub.

In 2024, the Air Greenland Group realized a profit before taxes of DKK 60.8 million. Revenue and activity levels have been increasing, but the cost level has increased even more, partly as a result of irregularities in operations and increases in technical maintenance and direct production-related costs.

The irregularity costs for 2024 exceeded DKK 100 million again, and in addition to disruptions derived from the extension of the runway in Nuuk, a greater burden of more unstable weather is experienced.

Challenges with the company’s 2 Airbus H225 AWSAR helicopter engines have resulted in additional costs of almost DKK 20 million, which according to the supplier Safran Helicopter Engines is due to Kangerlussuaq’s special sand conditions.

In 2024, Air Greenland has invested DKK 357.3 million in fixed assets, and the fleet renewal has now been completed with the delivery of the last H125 helicopters. Derived from the new runways in Nuuk, Qaqortoq and Ilulissat, Air Greenland is investing a total of DKK 475 million in buildings and other assets in the period 2022-2026 to be able to maintain domestic flights.

In 2024, a loan facility of DKK 275.0 million was established, of which DKK 175 million has been used in 2024, and a further expansion of the loan facility is expected in 2025.

Chair of the Board Malik Hegelund Olsen and Group CEO Jacob Nitter Sørensen presented the annual results at the Board meeting on 26 March 2025. They welcome the extraordinary efforts of the employees and the overall performance in a challenging operating year.
