🇸🇪 H2 Green Steel collaborates with Svea Vind Offshore
BODEN The steel company that is building a new factory in Boden in Norrbotten, H2 Green Steel, has signed a letter of intent with wind power developer Svea Vind Offshore on cooperation on electricity trading and hydrogen use.

The agreement means that H2 Green Steel will buy a large part of the renewable electricity it needs from the Bores Krona offshore wind farm planned in the Gulf of Bothnia off the Piteå and Luleå archipelagos.
For H2 Green Steel, it is about accelerating and enabling green electricity for the steel company’s second production phase in the future factory in Boden.
“Green electricity is crucial for the production of green hydrogen that enables the production of green steel. Therefore, the agreement between H2 Green Steel and Svea Vind Offshore is an important step on our journey to large-scale production of steel with near-zero emissions,” says Luisa Orre, Purchasing Manager at H2 Green Steel.
Svea Vind Offshore’s northernmost offshore wind farm Bores Krona in the Gulf of Bothnia will consist of 128 turbines, 350 meters high, which are estimated to produce 12 terawatt hours of renewable electricity each year.
“We are very pleased to be working with H2 Green Steel, which plans to use green electricity to produce sustainable products in Sweden. Through cooperation, we create conditions for both maintaining and creating jobs,” says Mattias Wärn, co-founder of Svea Vind Offshore. The company develops offshore wind power and now has 12 projects in Sweden.
H2 Green Steel expects to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 95% in its new production process, which will be operational by the end of 2025, compared to traditional steel production.
