At Luleå University of Technology, visitors saw laboratories where plants are broken down into hydrogen and discussed the lack of regulations slowing down investment.

The technology is seen as crucial to promoting a fossil-free industry, which is expected to be up and running within a few years.

– The industry itself says it can do it in a few years,” says Cecilia Wallmark, executive director of the CH2ESS hydrogen initiative at Luleå University of Technology.

Luleå University of Technology is currently working with stakeholders in northern Finland to create the world’s largest hydrogen bay. The different parties are now working together to find common ways to develop fossil-free hydrogen technology as required by industry.

Research shows that two key factors are needed – Cecilia Wallmark explains them in a video clip from SVT: https://www.svt.se/nyheter/lokalt/norrbotten/nya-energikallan-lockar-experter-och-investerare-till-lulea
