easyJet launches seven new direct flights from Europe to Tromsø

Milan, Geneva, Paris, Amsterdam, London (Gatwick), Bristol and Manchester are all cities from where you next winter can fly directly to Tromsø. The route map is now online.

“Brand new destinations including Tromsø in Norway and the French city of Strasbourg, further strengthening our unrivalled short-haul European network and providing customers with even more fantastic choice and great value,” says Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager in a statement

easyJet’s twice-weekly flights from London to Tromsø will launch on 11 November with departures on Mondays and Fridays. Tickets starts at €94 one way.

The British-based low-coast airline is from before flying to two destinations above the Arctic Circle; Rovaniemi and Kittilä in Finnish Lapland.

Snowfall, polar night and freezing cold are trending like never before among international selfie-taking tourists. Newspaper Nordlys (paywall) was first to report about easyJets arrival.

Tromsø ranks top in northern Norway and with the local airport expanding its terminal to facilitate more international flights, European airliners are booking slots.

As previously reported by the Barents Observer, Tromsø saw a 126% increase in passengers on International flights in January compared with the same month in 2023.

The city on the coast to the Norwegian Sea already has 20 direct flights from European cites.  Additional to easyJets new flights, other airliners connect Tromsø with Stockholm, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Gdansk, Milano, Berlin, Amsterdam, London and Paris.

In Rovaniemi, the Nordic capital of winter tourism, counted a record-breaking with more than a million overnight stays last year. The Finnish town on the Arctic Circle has for decades marketed itself as the home of Santa Claus.

This week, British Airways announced a new route to Ivalo, Finland’s northernmost airport. British Airways has also recently included Tromsø on next winter’s route map from London.
