The agreement was signed in Copenhagen on 8 February. It applies to bottom fishing in 2022 and decides how much each country can catch the other’s waters.

There are not large amounts involved. The Faroe Islands may catch 3,160 tons of various species in British waters and has an option on negotiating about another 1,600 tons of haddock.

In return, Great Britain may catch 3,060 tons of bottom fish in Faroese waters.
