Press release from Ocean Hyway Cluster

“There are several companies working on developing fuel cell, however, we view them as tech enablers and not competitors.”

HELINOR Energy provides ground-breaking Net Zero Hydrogen solutions for maritime applications such as auxiliary power and main propulsion power. From their headquarters in Norway, they will produce a variety of hydrogen fuel cell solutions, wind- and solar products as well as stacking of tailored batteries. The 40- and 60-kw fuel cell engine is available now and from mid-2024 their own fuel cell systems will be available.

We had a little chat with Elling Helvig, co-founder and chairman, and Stian Antonsen, CEO and co-founder in HELINOR Energy.

What is HELINOR Energy’s primary focus now?

Our primary focus now is settling into our new facilities in Florø. With the recent announcement that we are establishing our production in Florø, there is a lot of groundwork to be done. We are currently settling in at Botnastranda 76 and during the next 12 months we will have 30 new employees working at the facilities, says Stian Antonsen, CEO of HELINOR Energy.

With around 8000 residents in the industry-based city, 30 new jobs are a great addition. From their new headquarters in Florø, HELINOR will produce hydrogen fuel cell power boxes, towers, houses, wind, and solar power products as well as stacking of tailored batteries.

HELINOR recently announced that they are establishing their production facilities in Florø and Florø Hamn KF is the owner of the premises. Why did you want to be a part of the cluster?

Ocean Hyway Cluster is a great arena to reach out to colleagues in the industry. The maritime industry is a gigantic marked with 98,000 sailing vessels from 100gt and larger and and we need all fuel cell suppliers on deck to decarbonize shipping. There are several companies working on developing fuel cell, however, we view them as tech enablers and not competitors, says Elling Helvig, Co-founder of HELINOR Energy.

We find that the cluster members are genuinely interested in finding green solutions and together we can pave the way to decarbonise the maritime industry. Collaboration to find great solutions is the most important foundation stone in the cluster, Helvig ends with.
