Value involved in attending Gulleggið
Press release from Klak
“There’s a lot of value in attending events like this, getting to hear experiences from people who were once in the same situation, having an idea in their hands that made it happen,” Gerður says.
Made in Blush, the Masterclass of the Golden Egg opens on January 21st, 22nd.
Gerður Huld Arinbjarnardóttir, who was named Marketing Person of the Year 2021, says that the Golden Egg is a great platform for individuals and groups who have the passion and desire to start a business. Whether they have an idea or not. She says many people attend the event to get to know other entrepreneurs and gain additional skills. The Golden Egg entrepreneurship competition will take place for the 16th time with the Masterclass on the weekend of January 21st to 22nd. The Masterclass takes place for the second time and is open to all those who register for the Golden Egg.
The Golden Egg is the country’s largest entrepreneurial competition, but the competition has taken place since 2007. A number of companies have taken their first steps in the Golden Egg, including Solid Clouds, Genki, Roró, Meniga and then Controlant, which is one of the sponsors of this year’s competition.
This year there will be a special focus on connecting entrepreneurs to form stronger teams that have the potential to win the Golden Egg 2023. Nearly 300 entrepreneurs signed up last year and there are already 59 teams registered this year, but the deadline to register is January 20.
Speakers at the Golden Egg’s Masterclass will review, among other things, marketing, the financing environment, real-life stories of start-ups, and all will attend workshops with speakers.
One of Masterclassin’s main focuses is teaching entrepreneurs to frame ideas into a good sales presentation. Entrepreneurs subsequently have the opportunity to submit their presentation and try to become one of the 10 start-ups competing for the Golden Egg on 10 February live from Gróska.
The main sponsor of The Golden Egg 2023 is Landsbankinn, which has participated in the project from the beginning, and other sponsors include Controlant, Origo, HVIN, the City of Reykjavík, Intellectual Property Office, Advania, Marel, Eyrir Invest, Íslandsstofa, Crowberry capital, KPMG, Ölgerðin, Brunnur, Kvika asset management, Gróska, Frumtak ventures, Vörður as well as Reykjavik University, University of Akureyri and University of Iceland.
