Naalakkersuisut re-establishes the labour market assistance package where private companies that continue to pay wages to their employees in relation to covid19 sick leave can apply for salary compensation.

Private companies directly affected by sick leave due to COVID19 can apply for salary compensation to cover the cost of wages. The aid package is a continuation of the previous labour market assistance packages in force in spring 2020 as well as for the tourism industry in 2021.

The ongoing COVID-19 situation has begun to cause very significant economic and human consequences in terms of loss of income for the employee due to the spread of infection throughout the country. That is why we in Naalakkersuisut have decided to re-establish a labour market assistance package for private companies that is adapted to the current situation with many infected people in society, so that private companies can continue to pay wages to their employees who have sick leave due to COVID19.” Says Mimi Karlsen, Naalakkersuisoq, On Social Affairs and Home Affairs.

Inatsisartut’s Finance and Tax Committee has allocated DKK 50 million to the labour market assistance package, which is in force from 17 January to 6 April 2022.

The labour market assistance package has two target groups and thus has two separate guidelines:

1) offers salary compensation to private companies that repatriates its employees in relation to Covid19 infection.

2. offer salary compensation to dinghy fishermen who were unable to carry out fishing and action due to Covid19 infection;

Covid19-affected employees are considered repatriated. The term repatriation is thus used in relation to corona-related absence from the workplace.

Companies and dinghy fishermen can get salary compensation for January by applying for it via Sullissivik.gl in February or March 2022.

The application form and guidelines for the application, allocation and administration of funds can be found at Sullissivik.gl. It is being developed and is expected to go live after 10 February 2022.
