New Swedish arena for graphite research
Piteå Science Park and RISE propose a new Swedish arena for research, development and innovation in graphite-based products.

The aim is to strengthen the development of a sustainable graphite value chain in Sweden.
The background is that graphite is a key raw material for several future technologies, such as battery manufacturing, fuel cells and electrolyzers. Global demand is growing rapidly. Sweden, with its natural graphite resources and emerging industry in both synthetic graphite and recycling, has an opportunity to contribute to the EU’s strategy for critical raw materials, write the municipally owned Piteå Science Park and the state research institute RISE in a report.
They propose that industry and academia work together to create secure and sustainable supply chains in the area.
The next step in the project is a workshop in Piteå where representatives of industry and academia will participate.
