Vicki Preibisch, VP of Sustainability:
“Controlant’s vision is to unleash the power of people and technology to deliver zero-waste supply chains for its partners and the planet. Sustainability has always been at the heart of everything we do at Controlant. Our core value proposition is to make the world’s supply chains more sustainable, resilient, and integrated.
We recognize the urgency to protect our planet, to meet the needs of a growing population and generations to come. As a company with true purpose and impact for our employees, customers, shareholders and stakeholders, we aspire to become one of the most sustainable companies in our industry, setting a clear path towards sustainability leadership, by balancing environmental, social, and economic performance.”
Controlant’s climate action plan
Controlant’s aim is to demonstrate its climate commitment towards a net zero-carbon future by doing the following:
Establish a greenhouse gas emission baseline no later than 2023.
This means we will build an inventory of sources of carbon emission from our business activities, covering scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3. The emission baseline provides our starting point against which we measure our progress and define a path towards decarbonization.
Set science-based targets no later than 2024.
Science-based targets provide a clearly defined pathway for companies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the latest climate science to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050. Controlant will have its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.
Report sustainability information on an annual basis starting in 2023.
This includes company-wide greenhouse gas emissions inventory and progress against published targets. Transparency is one of Controlant’s core values. In 2023 we are taking first steps towards measuring and externally reporting our sustainability information, following best-practice guidelines and internationally recognized ESG reporting standards, such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and frameworks such as the UN Global Compact and Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures. Over time we expect our ESG reporting to become more granular, steering Controlant towards sustainability leadership, enabling our customers and suppliers to execute on their climate commitments.
We will do this by:
- Engaging with our suppliers on collaborative mutual improvement actions, as most of our carbon emissions are likely to come from the goods and services we purchase.
- Work with our customers on enabling them to deliver on their climate strategies, by supporting them with actionable insights and analytics to make their supply chains more agile and resilient from end to end.
- Define key levers as part of our decarbonization strategy. These will include incorporating circularity and sustainability aspects into our R&D, innovating for smarter product use and manufacturing with the aim of designing out waste and pollution from our products and solutions. This will include performing life-cycle-analysis on our solutions to understand their footprint and impact throughout the value chain.
- Train all our employees on sustainability matters.
- Championing sustainability excellence through governance.
Controlant supports the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. In 2022 we committed to implementing those principles as part of our operations and culture, with a focus on UN Sustainable Development Goals #2 zero hunger, #3 good health and well-being, #5 gender equality, #12 responsible consumption and production, and #13 climate action.
