ICE: Innovation, Community and Entrepreneurship
The ICE Events concept is owned and developed in collaboration between the Norwegian Barents Secretariat and Sør-Varanger Utvikling (SVU). The Barents Secretariat is responsible for the overall project and SVU is responsible for the project concept.
ICE started as an innovation festival in 2019 which gathered creative people in Kirkenes, Norway to solve societal challenges. ICE were tired of typical conferences with long speeches, big words and little action: they wanted to get the participants to actually do something.
In 2020, they arranged two digital innovation festivals “ICE — Hack the crisis” and “ICE Global”. Now it’s time to get people onsite again.
Today, they continue to develop the ICE concept with the goal of boosting innovation and entrepreneurship in the Arctic, with Kirkenes as its main hub. They aim to achieve this through cross-border cooperation and events to prompt creative thinking and an entrepreneurial mindset attitude.
