🇸🇪 🇪🇺 RISE and European Commission sign agreement to boost innovation and green transition

Today, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden CEO Pia Sandvik and Stephen Quest, Director-General of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement aims to strengthen European competitiveness and sustainable development through collaborative research and innovation in areas such as cities and buildings, circular economy, future-oriented industrial policy and innovation for sustainability.

The MoU was signed in conjunction with Director-General for the Joint Research Centre (JRC) Stephen Quest’s visit to two of RISE Research Institutes of Swedens (RISE) technology infrastructures in Stockholm Sweden, the Electrum laboratory and Cyber Range, which are used for research and innovation on semiconductors and cyber security.

“The core task of the JRC is to support policy makers at all levels with solid scientific input, not only at European level but also in the EU Member States. Scientific partnerships, such as the one we are launching today here in Stockholm with RISE, bring together national and JRC expertise for maximum impact”, says Stephen Quest, Director-General Joint Research Centre (JRC).

“I look forward to further developing the cooperation between the JRC and RISE to strengthen Europe’s innovation capacity through joint research and through the utilization of our technology infrastructures”, says Pia Sandvik.

As the science and knowledge service of the European Commission, the Joint Research Centre’s mission is to provide independent, evidence-based science and knowledge, supporting EU policies to positively impact society..  Working in close cooperation with policy Directorates-General, the JRC addresses key societal challenges while stimulating innovation through developing new methods, tools and standards, and sharing its know-how with the Member States, the scientific community and international partners.
