SSAB and Meka Pro Oy agree on delivery of fossil-free steel
Luleå Swedish steel manufacturer SSAB and Finnish Meka Pro Oy have agreed on deliveries of fossil-free steel to be used in the manufacture of cable laying systems, such as cable ladders and cable trays.
Through the deliveries from SSAB, Meka Pro Oy can reduce carbon emissions in its products by up to 95%. This is important for Meka’s investments in the Solar product family, where it offers installation systems for solar power plants.
“Fossil-free steel enables a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of Meka’s products and we definitely want to offer this to our customers as soon as possible,” says Oskari Ylimaula, Sustainability Director at Meka Pro Oy.
Meka Pro Oy is a Finnish family business that manufactures cable laying systems. The company has been around for more than 70 years and is run by the third generation. The company has approximately 100 employees. The company has eight sales offices and delivers its products to partners and customers in over 80 countries.
“We at SSAB are excited to work with new partners. A common goal towards a fossil-free future is rewarding for all of us and allows us to develop a more sustainable value chain together,” says Lotta Ruottinen, Sales Director SSAB Europe.
