Sweden’s Flasheye partners with Israeli company
Luleå-based Flasheye enters into a strategic partnership with Opsys.
Both companies work with the so-called Lidar technology, which uses laser light to measure distances and observe objects.
“This is a starting point of a new and exciting chapter in the lidar market. Opsys and Flasheye are dedicated to enhancing operational outcomes across machines, systems, and human environments. By doing so, businesses can achieve higher levels of automation and safety,” says Ulf Lindström, the CEO of Flasheye.
The partnership will initially focus on intelligent transport systems (ITS) to improve safety and efficiency on the roads. The first joint launch includes highway monitoring in North America.
The software company Flasheye has developed a system for smarter and better monitoring of industrial processes, including through 3D technology. Flasheye has taken Lidar technology from the automotive, defence and robotics industries and applied it to industry. The aim is to provide better, automated monitoring that detects and warns of anomalies at an early stage.
Flasheye was founded in Kiruna three years ago. Today, the head office is in Luleå and the company has 15 employees. The company has several co-operation agreements with global companies.
Opsys Technologies, founded in 2016 and headquartered in Israel with offices in the US, Asia and Europe, works with Lidar technology, specialising in autonomous vehicles and driver assistance. The company employs around 140 people and has a turnover of around USD 45 million.
Lidar stands for Light Detection and Ranging, and involves using laser light reflected from the objects to be observed.
