UMMC’s Kuzbassrazrezugol starts use of mobile power unit for large electric mining shovels
The first mobile power complex for mining shovels “Peregon-1800” was recently put into operation at the Bachatsky coal mine of JSC MC Kuzbassrazrezugol (KRU, an enterprise of the UMMC raw materials complex). The complex was created by ObninskEnergoTech specialists according to the technical assignment of the Kuzbassrazrezugol Management Company.
The new equipment is capable of autonomously powering almost all electric shovel models of domestic and foreign OEMs with AC and DC electric motors, including excavators of large unit power, over any distance. Now, to move equipment, in the event of a change in the mining front or during drilling and blasting operations, there is no need to build additional power lines.
During tests, the mobile complex successfully coped with the moves of various Russian EKG models, as well as the Komtasu P&H 2800 and Chinese TYHI WK-35, plus the largest electric excavator in Russia, the Komatsu P&H 4100XPC with a bucket volume of 56 m3, as well as the walking draglines ESH-13/50 and ESH -11/70, for twhose movement it has been necessary up until now to connect to the power supply of the electric motors not only the travel drives, but also the swing drives.
“The peculiarity of the unit is that it is a technical solution for connecting to low-voltage electric motors,” comments Sergey Kovin, Head of the Power Supply Department of the Kuzbassrazrezugol Management Company. “This fundamentally distinguishes it from the complexes of other manufacturers with a connection of up to 6 kV. The Peregon-1800 is classed as low-voltage equipment, so the station is highly mobile – it is allowed to move on public roads, which allows it to be quickly relocated to any mining section of the company.”
The complex is housed in a special container based on a KAMAZ chassis. It consists of two parts: a power unit, which houses an internal combustion engine in the form of a 500 kW Cummins generator set, and a conversion compartment. The complex is equipped with an operator’s control panel, which allows operators to adjust the rotation speed of each excavator track, monitor the parameters of the mobile complex and excavator, and receive messages from the information and diagnostic systems.
The new machine is currently attached to the Bachatsky open-pit mine, but it is also planned to use it in the Krasnobrodsky, Mokhovsky and Kedrovsky branches. For the southern sections of Kuzbassrazrezugol – Taldinsky and Kaltansky, the acquisition of another complex of the same type is envisaged in 2022.
